The Medellín Metro announced that service on Line K of the Metrocable, suspended after the accident at the Popular station, could be restored in two weeks, after international inspections and certifications.

With international certification and prior tests, service would be restored on Line K of the Metrocable. The system serves people who have been affected by the interruption of service following the accident at the Popular station.

According to the Medellín Metro, the inspection and investigation work to determine the causes of the accident that caused the fall of one of the Metrocable cabins on Popular could extend the suspension of Line K service for two weeks. With international experts and the involvement of Eafit University, investigations will be carried out to restore the service as soon as possible.

Most of the people who were injured in this accident have already been discharged from hospitals. To guarantee mobility in the area, the inhabitants’ contingency plan continues.

The Metro has not recorded a reduction in the number of passengers; Stations such as Acevedo, Tricentenario and Hospital have attended the arrival of users arriving from established routes.
