The rebels Yemen Houthis They launched this Wednesday two attacks against commercial ships sailing in the Indian Ocean and the gulf of aden, gateway to the Red Sea. The actions were confirmed by the spokesman for the terrorist group, Yahya Sarea, who added that “several missiles” were used.

The first of the cargo ships hit was a American Maersk Yorktownwhich he received a “precise impact” in Gulf waters. The British Navy’s Commercial Operations had given notice of an explosion near the ship’s location but clarified that both the ship and the crew “were safe.”

Meanwhile, the second was the MSC Veracruz, an Israeli ship flying the Portuguese flag that was traveling from Houston to Abu Dhabi. In his case, Sarea reported, he was attacked “with several drones” in Indian Ocean waters, where the Houthis have extended their maneuvers.

Following these offenses, the group launched a wave of unmanned aerial vehicles against a Washington destroyer in the Gulf of Aden although the United States Central Command has not reported the incident nor any inconvenience that may have arisen from it.

The maneuvers of the last few hours took place after a period of relative calm in the waters of the area, a consequence of a decrease in terrorist offenses. The UK Navy, which is responsible for monitoring incidents of this nature, reported that in April they only registered two attacks prior to those of this Wednesday -the 6th and 7th- against the 12 that had occurred on the Yemeni coast in March.

At the same time, CENTCOM reported last week of a successful operation that allowed the downing of “two unmanned aerial vehicles in areas controlled by the Houthis.”

Since clashes broke out between Hamas and Israel, this Yemeni group joined the fight for the Palestinian cause, launching its own offenses against Israeli or allied commercial ships, or those with their flag, that sail in the Red Sea. They will only stop, they say, when “the aggression and siege against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip ceases.”

Even the day before, when the 200 days since the beginning of the war, they targeted the prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and they accused him of being a “criminal” and of failing “miserably” in his will to control Gaza.

“Netanyahu’s criminal has failed miserably and has achieved none of the stated objectives of its brutal war but, in return, has managed with astonishing success to present the Western system (in general) and the United States (in particular) as the main enemy of the peoples of our Arab nation and Islam and humanity as a whole,” said Houthi Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al Ezzi.

However, Tel Aviv continues to advance on the enclave and coordinate its plans in Rafah. In the last few hours, the head of Intelligence met with his Egyptian counterpart to “investigate the possibility of carrying out a military operation” in the southern city and learn about the different scenarios that may occur, always seeking to preserve the lives of the civilians.
