The Pope, upon receiving the seminary in the Spanish city of Burgos, expressed his joy at seeing in the community a “mosaic of races, cultures, ages that have come together to respond together to the call of Jesus to the ministerial priesthood. And that they have chosen the Burgos seminary, which the Pope has already visited, and which is a place in the world that perhaps, he told them, was unthinkable for many; a land rich in history and tradition, with strong people “because of the climate and customs”, but which you now define as “emptied Spain”.
Empty lands: fill them with God
Regarding this term that they referred to the Pope, he told them that by reflecting on the reason why God has brought them to the place where they are, the reflection can start from the passage from Saint Luke in which Jesus sends his disciples “to where he intended to go.” He” (Lc 10.1).

Walk two by two

Show absolute availability to God, he told them, “begging” Him to “send” us, even if we seem little in the face of such a great job—the harvest. After the attitude of abandonment and trust, may the void only be made in our hearts to welcome God and his brother. And he advised them to let go of false human securities.
“Having God in us fills us with peace, a peace that we can communicate, that we can take to all towns and cities, wish for every home. In this way they will fill with their light the fields that now seem barren, fertilizing them with hope.”
