Numerous deadly Israeli strikes were launched against areas in the Gaza Strip that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had marked as safe areas, according to an NBC News investigation.

The channel collected the GPS coordinates of seven air strikes carried out by the Hebrew Army between January and April, and after analyzing them, it determined that all the bombings had hit locations identified by the IDF as evacuation zones on an interactive online map which was published on December 1, 2023. The map has not been updated since then and the Israeli Army told the outlet that it remains accurate.

“People evacuate, use the roads they were told to use, go to the place they were told, and then they are hit by an airstrike or a ground invasion,” said Sari Bashi, program director at Human Rights. Watch. “There is no safe place in Gaza”he concluded.

NBC News sent the IDF the GPS coordinates of the seven attacks against the areas that had been identified as safe, but their response was that they are “not aware of any attacks at the coordinates and times provided.”
