According to reports, Blinken left for Riyadh this Sunday. He will examine ongoing efforts to achieve – the spokesperson said – a ceasefire in Gaza that ensures the release of Israeli citizens held by the Palestinian Hamas movement.

“He will discuss the recent increase in humanitarian assistance being delivered to Gaza and underscore the importance of ensuring that increase is sustained,” Miller’s update noted.

The official said that the Secretary of State “will also emphasize the importance of preventing the conflict (in the Middle East) from spreading and discuss ongoing efforts to achieve peace.”

But, many observers criticize the double discourse of the United States, which continues to send military aid to Israel, the same as it used in the genocide in Gaza.

President Joe Biden recently signed a foreign aid law that included, among other items, nearly $61 billion for Ukraine and $26 billion for Israel.

Right across the country, a wave of protests is spreading in universities – resulting in hundreds of arrests – in solidarity with Gaza.
