SEOUL, April 29 (Yonhap) — North Korea on Monday condemned the United States for sending long-range tactical missiles to Ukraine to be used in its fight against Russia, stating that Washington will not be able to change the course of war with a “vile” policy like that.

The White House confirmed, last week, that Washington has sent Ukraine a “significant” number of missiles from the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), to be used in Ukrainian territory, after the use against kyiv, by Russia, of North Korean ballistic missiles.

“Long-range missiles offered by the US will never tip the balance on the battlefield in favor of Ukraine, but will instead fuel the reckless confrontation hysteria of the Zelensky puppet clique,” said a director of the military affairs department foreign affairs of the North Korean Defense Ministry, whose identity was not revealed, in a statement in English, published by the North’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The North Korean official also denounced Washington as a “harassor” of peace, which has been aggravating the war by providing Ukraine with such weapons.

Furthermore, he added that the “vile” US policy of offering long-range missiles to be used against Russia, in an attempt to tip the balance of war, will have no effect, as the US will never be able to defeat the “heroic Russian Army and people” with your latest weapons or military support.

North Korea is one of the few countries that have expressed support for Russia in the war with Ukraine. Pyongyang and Moscow have been deepening military ties after the summit between the chairman of the North Korean State Affairs Committee, Kim Jong-un, and the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, in September last year.
