The head of the Committee for Resistance to the Wall and Settlements, Muayyad Shaaban, detailed in a report on the subject that the security forces launched 895 attacks and the settlers another 347.
Shaaban noted that the northern governorate of Nablus was the most affected by violence with 202 incidents, followed by Hebron (188) and Ramallah (186).
During April, Jewish settlement extremists murdered five Palestinians in the West Bank, he stressed.
That month there was “a dangerous escalation of terrorist attacks carried out by settlers under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces,” the activist noted.
During that period, 36 West Bank cities and towns were attacked, and 66 homes were burned totally or partially, as well as 57 vehicles, he added.
Shaaban accused Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of supporting the violence of these people.
The scale of the attacks indicates the extent of the powers granted by the authorities to these radicals, he said.
In April, Israel also confiscated more land from the village of Arab Al-Ta’amra to expand the boundaries of the Sidi Bar settlement and approved several plans to build more housing in those settlements, he criticized.
More than 750,000 settlers live in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, despite several UN Security Council resolutions demanding the evacuation of such sites.
