Russia and China prepare new energy supply agreements

Moscow, June 3. — Russia does not doubt that all the necessary agreements will be reached with China regarding energy supplies, and trade negotiations are ongoing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov declared this Monday, Prensa Latina reported.

The spokesperson clarified in a press conference this Monday that it is common for each nation to protect its own interests, and that these are not public knowledge. Peskov assured that negotiations between the two countries will continue due to the existence of shared political will. He also expressed confidence that all necessary trade agreements will be reached.

Furthermore, Peskov indicated that continued cooperation between Moscow and Beijing in the energy sector was, in fact, a key point in the negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. According to the bilateral declaration signed, both Russia and China are interested in maintaining and deepening dialogue in the energy sector, as confirmed by the leaders of both countries.

The Russian president made a state visit to China on May 16 and 17, visiting the cities of Beijing and Harbin. On May 16, talks between the Russian and Chinese presidents took place in the Chinese capital. During these talks, all aspects of cooperation between Russia and China were discussed, with a special focus on economic issues. Both leaders also approved a joint statement.
