The Fordham Heights building, once a shelter, has been plagued by simmering tensions between long-term tenants and a mob of immigrants who took over parts of the building this year, with bloodshed sparking the shooting fatal May 24, according to sources. and the residents said.

Police are now searching for Venezuelan migrant Josué Rubén Silva, 21, who has built up a troubling record this year after crossing illegally into the United States last year, sources said.

“I’m scared,” one 27-year-old resident told the Post. “I don’t go near his side [del edificio]. I fear them. I’m out of here. “This is not an environment to raise a child.”

“They have a gun in the building,” he added. “No one expected that. They also could have shot and killed other people in the building. You have guns in the building with kids, people coming and going. “That’s not safe.”
