Mayor of Nuseirat killed in Israeli bombing
The Gaza authorities denounced this Thursday that An Israeli bombing has killed the mayor of the Nuseirat refugee campIyad al Maghari, a day after the Israeli Army killed 40 people in an attack on a school of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) located in said camp, in the center of the Gaza Strip.
“The Israeli occupation army has committed a cowardly murder of the mayor of Nuseirat and a group of citizens, bombing them directly from planes in the Nuseirat campwhich is considered a war crime in violation of international laws, which grant immunity and protection to civilian figures,” reads a statement from the press office of the Gazan authorities.
In this sense, he has indicated that “this crime is considered a new episode of the crimes of the occupation” against the “Palestinian people, which has affected all sectors in a deliberate and pre-planned manner.”
“The occupation aims to create a state of chaosmultiply the humanitarian crisis and prevent providing municipal services to citizens and displaced people,” they stated.
“Al Maghari, considered a service official who preferred to fulfill his national duty and provide service from the first moment and without interruption to the population of the Nuseirat refugee camp, in the Central Governorate, throughout these days of genocidal war , was loyal and dedicated to his work and to the service of his people and his country,” they stressed.
Among the fatalitiesof which the authorities they have not specified a balancethere is several members of the mayor’s family. Sources consulted by the Palestinian newspaper ‘Filastin’, linked to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), have indicated that The attack targeted the Ministry of Development located in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
