Thelma Tatten was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mark Cavallaro was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. Both were 56 years old.
The gun reportedly belonged to Jessica’s boyfriend and was kept in a safe at her family’s home.
The authorities ordered the detention without bail of the young woman after the double murder that occurred last Thursday morning. Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said Jessica Cavallaro shot her parents inside a car outside a home on Washington Street shortly after 9 a.m.
Prosecutors said the couple was planning to take their daughter to breakfast when she shot them both in the head.
“Of course, you never want to see anyone dead or injured in any neighborhood,” said the victims’ neighbor, Peter Burke. “When it’s right in your own backyard, it’s a little more impactful,” commented to local media.

Cavallaro is charged with the crimes of murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury and illegal possession of a firearm. She faces life in prison.
