A tragic event shook a town in Indonesia: a reticulated python measuring approximately five meters ate a 45-year-old woman wholewhose body was found inside the animal by his family and neighbors.
The event took place in the village of Kalempang, in the province of South Sulawesi. The woman’s disappearance had been reported last Friday by her husband, who – along with the four children they had in common – began to travel around the area in search of Farida, as the victim was identified.
As explained to the agency AFP Suardi Rosi, the head of the village, the neighbors searched the area and detected a python “with a big belly”, so they quickly decided to open its stomach. “There Farida’s head appeared“Detailed Rosi, who added that the victim’s body had all his clothes inside the snake.
This is not the first incident of this style that has occurred in the area, since several people died in recent years after being swallowed by the same type of animal.
Last year, in the district of Tinanggea, southeast of the island of Sulawesi, residents killed an eight-month-old python who had suffocated and eaten a farmer. Two years earlier, the body of a 54-year-old woman had been found inside a seven-meter python in the city of Muna, also in Southeast Sulawesi. Likewise, the previous year, a farmer in western Sulawesi was also eaten by another four-meter python.
The reticulated python -whose scientific name is Malayopython reticulatus– is a species of snake belonging to the Pythonidae family, which usually lives in areas of Southeast Asia, Indonesia and the Philippines. It is normally kept in rainforests in areas close to water, as it has the ability to swim long distances.
It is considered as the longest snake known, since some specimens can exceed eight meters and weigh 250 kilos. With an elongated head, wide and flat snout, the mouth has approximately one hundred teeth of different sizes, which allow it to feed on large prey.
