According to a statement from Doctors Without Borders (MSF), the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF) entered the South Hospital in Al-Fasher, the capital of the province of North Darfur, the day before, and shot at the personnel of health and patients.

In recent days, paramilitaries have redoubled their offensive to take control of the city, which is considered the army’s last stronghold in Darfur.

Eyewitnesses reported that at the time of the attack there were 10 patients and a medical team at the scene, who had to flee the shooting.

On the other hand, the executive director of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), Cindy McCain, warned that the war in Sudan could become the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, which has already left thousands dead and millions displaced.

In this sense, the official denounced that they can barely get humanitarian aid to the refugees and famine threatens, which can have catastrophic consequences.

Since mid-April of last year, this African nation has been mired in an internal war, after contradictions over power issues flared up between the head of the Army, Abdel Fatah al-Burhan, and the leader of the RSF paramilitaries, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo. .

In Sudan, where a military coup occurred in 2019 and another in 2021, a conflict broke out in which thousands of civilians died, including about 15,000 in the Western Darfur region alone.
