“I was very stressed and worried about all this. I tried to be there for her as much as I could because I didn’t want her to be alone,” her daughter Ellie told The Sun and revealed that On the day Shanon died, doctors had confirmed that Wayne had just a few days to live.. “He made it through the day, but the emotional toll on her was devastating. I can’t handle that much,” she added.

According to Ellie, Shanon and Wayne had been married for 10 years, the love they had “seemed from another world,” they both told each other “to be their soulmate” and that was how they lived it until the last day.
Wayne had been diagnosed with cancer in his groin, for which he underwent several months of chemotherapy, but after routine tests carried out in October 2023, they discovered that it had spread to his lungs. Despite a dangerous intervention, they were unable to remove it and in February 2024, he was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare type of tumor that develops in the bones and connective tissue.
From that moment on, his health began to worsen day by day and so did Shanon’s concern. “I didn’t eat, I didn’t sleep, nothing. I was just in the hospital next to her. She rarely went home to change her clothes. I brought her food, but she didn’t even eat,” Ellie explained.

On April 4, 2024, doctors said that perhaps this was Wayne’s last day of life, triggering a severe stress attack in Shanon. “That day my mother called me telling me that she was having trouble breathing,” said the 29-year-old.
Upon arriving at the hospital, she was told that her mother had suffered a heart attack caused by “broken heart syndrome,” also known as stress cardiomyopathy or takotsubo syndrome. Wayne died three days later, on April 7.

As explained by specialists, this rare condition occurs when a person experiences severe and sudden stress that can quickly weaken the heart muscle and endanger their life.

“The extent of my mother’s distress was enormous,” Ellie said, adding: “The nurses told me my mother had suffered a heart attack. I got there and they put her in a coma. She then she died. The doctor said she was a form of broken heart syndrome.”
At the same time, he said that “it is normal” for this to happen to older people who suffer some important loss in their lives. “I wasn’t surprised when they said that was what they thought had happened, as I knew how afraid my mother was of feeling alone,” Ellie concluded.
