He Port of Chancay, which is expected to begin operations in November of this year and be inaugurated within the framework of the APEC forum in the presence of the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, received its first ship. It was the ship Fu Zhou Guo Ji, in which the manufacturer ZPMC sent the initial batch of cranes that will be installed in the port facility with which Peru is projected as a South American hub.

In total, there are six remote-controlled dock cranes for the first phase of the project. Three of the teams are for multipurpose cargo, which were shipped from Nantong, China.

In the installation, which builds Cosco Shipping Ports and Volcan Compañía Minera, -in its first stage- 15 double-cantilever automatic stacking cranes will be added.

On the other hand, the STS cranes will have a reach of 72 meters and a lifting height above the rail of 54 meters.

The project considers a total investment of 3.5 billion dollars, and will be deployed on 1,100 hectares, with a draft of 18 meters and thus receive ultra-large container ships (ULCV) and a capacity to handle one million containers per year in its first phases, with four months that will increase to 15.

The first phase of the terminal is 70% complete.
