Social Security in the United States reminded its beneficiaries that this month the penultimate payment of almost $5,000 USD will be advanced. Here we tell you how the calendar looks for the remainder of June.
It turns out that the Social Security Administration (SSA) sends your payments, as is traditional, on Wednesdays of each month. However, the next one will be an exception. According to the official calendar of payments, the next delivery of money will be made on Tuesday, June 18. Why the change?
As is known, Juneteenth is celebrated in the United States on Wednesday, June 19. Hence, the date for sending Social Security benefits is moved forward one day. This way, if this date corresponds to you, you will have your money at dawn on Tuesday.
According to SSA rules, when a payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, payment is advanced to the previous business day. This is not the first time this has happened in June. But, the unique thing is that the payment date is “moved” due to Juneteenth.
If we talk about advances, this month’s Supplemental Security Income (SSI) was paid on May 31. This happened because June 1st fell on a Saturday.
SSA Payment Schedule
The SSA established a payment schedule taking into account the days of birth of the beneficiary.
-People born between the 1st and 10th receive their payments on the second Wednesday of the month.
-People born between the 11th and 20th receive their payments on the third Wednesday of the month.
-People born between the 21st and 31st receive their payments on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
It is not common for a holiday to coincide with a Wednesday, however, it is not impossible. Those born between the 11th and 20th will get their benefits on Tuesday, June 18 and not on Wednesday.
