Russian army attacks energy facilities and arsenals with Western-supplied weapons in Ukraine in response to the Ukrainian attacks against its energy systemThe Russian Ministry of Defense reported this Saturday in its daily war report.

“The Russian Armed Forces launched a massive attack with high-precision, long-range air- and naval-based weapons, as well as drones, against Ukrainian energy facilities (…) and arsenals with projectiles supplied to the Ukrainian Army,” said the Russian Armed Forces. portfolio in a statement, specifying that the attacked energy facilities guaranteed the work of the companies of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex. “The targets of the attack were hit. All were destroyed”he added.

According to Defense, the attack was carried out in response to kyiv’s attempts to damage Russian energy facilities. Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has launched nearly fifty drone and rocket attacks against fuel depots and oil refineries, some of them hundreds of kilometers from Ukrainian territory.

According to various experts, the great extension of Russia and the magnitude of its energy sector make it extremely difficult to properly protect all the facilities that can be considered objectives by the Ukrainian Army, even more so when it concentrates a large part of its anti-aircraft systems in the more than 1,000 kilometers of the Ukrainian front.

kyiv, for its part, acknowledged that Russia launched a wave of attacks against targets in its energy system, damaging infrastructure in the regions of Zaporizhia (south) and Lviv (west). The Ukrainian Air Force reported in a note that Russia had used at least 16 missiles of various types for this purpose., including Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea and X-101 and X-555 missiles, as well as 13 kamikaze drones. Of these, 12 missiles and 13 drones were shot down, according to Air Force Commander Mikola Oleschuk on his Telegram channel.

Ukrainian authorities also reported that the impact of several Russian projectiles on a housing area in the city of Kharkiv, in northeastern Ukraine, caused the death of at least three civilians and more than 50 wounded. The deceased are a woman who was waiting at a tram stop, a man who was in the center of the impact site and a security guard who was nearby.

“Russian terrorists attacked Kharkiv with guided aerial bombs again. Unfortunately, they hit a residential building,” wrote the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyon their social networks. “My condolences to all those who have lost loved ones”he added, asking his country’s allies for brave decisions that will allow the Russian fighter planes to be destroyed.
