Wife poisoned husband’s soda after he ‘failed to appreciate’ birthday party she threw for him

A Missouri beautician was arrested for allegedly putting weed killer in her husband’s drink as retaliation for not appreciating the birthday party she threw for him for his 50th anniversary.according to authorities.

Michelle Y. Peters, 47, of Lebanon, faces charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal conduct, according to court documents reviewed by the newspaper. NYPost.

During his interrogation, Peters expressed her desire to punish her husband for not appreciating the event she organized for him.

Peters’ husband, whose identity was not revealed in the documents, informed the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office the same day that herHe suspected that his wife was administering poison to him, as stated in the affidavit of probable cause.

He initially ignored the strange taste and continued drinking the soda. A couple of weeks later, began to suffer from a sore throat, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting, the husband said, according to the American newspaper.

The victim told police she tried to change her routine by placing new, untampered bottles in the refrigerator in hopes that Michelle would stop mixing weed killer into her soda. According to him, the original bottle of Roundup was almost empty and the new bottle was ready to be replaced.

When Peters’ husband mentioned he was feeling sick, she allegedly responded that it could be COVID and advised him to stay away from his grandchildren, according to court records.

Peters’ husband said he was not sure whether his wife was having an affair or was seeking to collect on her $500,000 life insurance policy. She also noted that she had “drastically reduced” the money she had been transferring to her personal account from a business account.

He watched the live footage Sunday afternoon, when he told police he saw his wife with the soda near a bottle of insecticide. At the time, Peters’ husband believed the current bottle of Mountain Dew was empty.

The next day, the husband took the video to the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office, where he reported that he feared for his life. Detectives took two bottles of Roundup, a two-liter soda and a bottle of insecticide from the couple’s home.

In the months leading up to the alleged poisoning, Peters’ Facebook was flooded with images of his family, including his children and grandchildren, as well as posts from a local church page.
