Lavrov stressed the inadmissibility of measures aimed at undermining the constitutional foundations of sovereign states, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, published on its official website on Thursday.

The Russian diplomat also conveyed to his counterpart “Moscow’s full and unwavering support for the government of President Luis Arce.”

Lavrov also stressed the importance of consolidating all the forces and structures of Bolivian society for the further stable development of the country and expressed Russia’s solidarity with “its reliable strategic partner.”

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to all the agreements reached during the June meeting of the presidents of Russia and Bolivia in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, the note adds.

Bolivia and Russia have had a bilateral relationship for 126 years and are currently seeking to promote cooperation in the areas of hydrocarbons, foreign trade and finance.

On Wednesday, Bolivia experienced an attempted coup d’état under the leadership of the former commander of the Bolivian Army, General Juan José Zúñiga.
