As if it were an effect from a marvel movieon a soccer field in an Illinois park, United States, a huge sinkhole opened approximately 100 feet wide, this Wednesday, June 26, swallowing an electricity pole with it and leaving behind its trail: a huge, deep hole on the soccer field.

The exact moment of its appearance was captured by a security camera, showing how the light pole disappears when swallowed by the earth; something that would be done with special effects in a science fiction movie. The incident occurred specifically in the city of Alton, Illinois.

Regarding this event, Michael Hynes, director of the Alton Parks and Recreation department, said that the sinkhole was due to “a mine collapse deep underground,” and pointed to the company New Frontier Materials as responsible.

And it is that, under this court, there is a limestone mine which could have caused the land to sink.

Fortunately, There was no one around the court that day. and no injuries were reported at the time of the incident.
