Shmigal explained that Italy will deliver its second SAMP-T system, capable of intercepting ballistic missiles, while Germany will do the same with Gepard anti-aircraft armored vehicles and IRIS-T guided missiles.

He explained that the Patriot missiles will be the ones that will arrive in greater numbers thanks to deliveries from countries such as the United States, Germany, Romania, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain and Norway.

He also stressed that Sweden to send two radar surveillance aircraft to Ukraine. “This will allow us to detect air targets even from enemy territory and better prepare to repel attacks,” he warned.

Patriot missile launch

Shmigal also noted that Ukraine will receive US$60 billion in military support from its international partners over the next four years after signing 20 security guarantee agreements with Western countries and the European Union (EU).

“Ukraine has already signed 20 security agreements with its allies, including the EU and the US,” he said at a cabinet meeting.

In Shmigal’s opinion, it is “a unique story that opens up new opportunities for defense cooperation and lays the foundation for our future security in peacetime.”

Before the NATO summit in Washington Ukraine also plans to conclude two more security guarantee agreements with Poland and the Czech Republic, after signing the last one the day before with the entire European Union (EU).

Shmigal also recalled that this year Ukraine will receive an additional USD 50 billion from allies for revenues from Russian assets frozen in the West.

NASAMS air defense system
