It is south of Chiloé, in the Aysén region and unlike what many may think, Melimoyu hide a incredibly colorful seabed. Between 2018 and 2022, the Chilean photographer and diver, Eduardo Sorensensubmerged in the waters of the Patagonia to portray the species that live there. Now, his photos will be shown for the first time at the Casa de Iberoamérica, in Spain between June 13 and September 14.

Among the photographs and species that can be observed are sea feathers, one of the most difficult to observe, along with anemones jewelry, snails, hydrocoralsoffices, among others.

During his career, Sorensen has participated in more than 20 expeditions between journalistic and scientific, and his photographs have been key for certain marine areas in Chile have been declared protected. On the other hand, the photographer has not only portrayed beauty but also the pollution from industries in the waters of the south of the country.

In the case of this project in Melimoyu for the Meri Foundation, the objective was scientific. According to Sorensen, the idea was to have a baseline of the seabed, but also reveal the beauty that is there.
