Ishmael Pinteño, illustrator of the work, has perfectly translated the author’s original sketches, transmitting his love and respect for the profession. The root is found in the old school viticulturist, from whom the vinedresser takes ancestral knowledge, technical knowledge and respect for the rhythms of nature. With that legacy, he takes a step forward to create a wine full of vibrations, which transmits with elegance and sensitivity his efforts in the vineyard and his art in the winery.

The vinedresser’s job

The illustrated story brings us closer to the most romantic side of the world of wine. He vinedresser’s job is described by one of the most prominent figures in southern Spain. A clear tribute to all those who have made their passion their way of life.

Conceived and written by Alejandro Muchada, a trained architect, who felt the call of his vocation after experiencing a grape harvest in Champagne, and left everything to become an “eternal apprentice of a vinedresser” in his land, Sanlúcar de Barrameda. A inspirational story in the form of an illustrated story about the last great movement that has evolved the world of wine since the respect for the natural and working environment, traditions and experience of previous generations dedicated to traditional viticulture.

The work has a prologue by one of the vignerons of worship, David Léclapartinspiration and teacher of Muchada, who for decades has been making dream champagnes with great passion and success, and shares with the author himself a new winery project in Sanlúcar, Muchada-Léclapart.

Alejandro Muchada: vineyard owner and co-owner of the Muchada-Léclapart winery

Alejandro Muchadaborn in Villanueva de la Serena in 1982, is a vineyard and co-owner of the Muchada-Léclapart winery. Located in Sanlucar de Barramedathis winery grows in biodynamic agriculture four hectares of vineyard. With artisanal production, its palomino grape wines have been selected and described in international media such as The New York Times, Financial Times, Decanter or El País.

His beginnings in the world of wine and viticulture date back to 2011, when he met the man who is now his partner, David Leclapartone of the vignerons reference of Champagne. With him he learned everything about biodynamic agriculture and the profession of the vinedresser and the Minimal intervention in the winery. Previously, Muchada’s professional career was focused on social architecture and human development.

Senior architect and doctor in History of Architecture, master in Human Rights and culture of peace, he worked in Morocco as an international aid worker on the outskirts of the cities of Larache and Tetouan. It was in that experience where he became aware of the importance of agriculture for human development and the wisdom of those who work the land and the sea, which would finally lead him to embark on a path as a vineyard owner.

Ismael Pinteño: illustrator specialized in traditional techniques

Ishmael Pinteño was born in Algeciras in 1981. It is a illustrator specialized in traditional techniques, highlights its versatility and stylistic eclecticism. Its graphic representation is determined mainly by the use of the watercolor, graphite and penas well as the symbiosis of these with the new digital media.

Graduated in Fine Arts, he has made illustrations for museums and national and international publishers. Among his publications, it is worth mentioning the covers made for the Horror Collection The Footprint of… (Editorial Calamar) and his contribution to the Spectrum Yearbook # 26 International Illustrators of Fantastic Art (USA). He projects the art design illustrations for 20th Century Fox’s Theme Park. He has worked in film and animation production companies, as a cartoonist for the Goya-nominated documentary 30 Years of Darkness (La Claqueta, 2022) and directing and creating the illustration sequences for the documentary La isla de los Inglés (Cinnamon Factory, 2021).

Ismael Pinteño has received several painting and drawing awards, highlighting the 2016 Juan Luis Vassallo Fine Arts Prize and his recent award at the XXVI Gregorio Prieto National Drawing Contest.
