Eduardo Sacheri, Argentine writer, presented at the Bogotá Book Fair his most recent book titled ‘Us two in the storm’a work inspired by the 70s and the coup d’état that took place in Argentina.

The artist spoke with Líderes de NTN24 and told what inspired him to write this work: “The artistic silence prior to the coup d’état led me to investigate these discomforts and I believe that the discomfort has to do with political turbulence and an already naturalized violence , all this prior to the coup, because the coup arrives, the violence goes to unknown limits, but Revolutionary, governmental and police violence was already daily bread in Argentina in 1975 and that was a little what generated my interest.”.

He also told about the protagonists of his literary work: “They are two young people, the revolutionary guerrilla in my country was an experiment of young people and those young people who went to clandestine life cut their ties of origin and family a lot and friendship was one of the elements that eventually sustained them, anyway, The novel not only seeks the point of view of them as revolutionaries, but also of the victims, which is why I also tried to include those voices.”.

“Talking with survivors of that time and former guerrillas, they told me about that tension that existed between an almost armored, accurate and coherent ideological program that left no room for a gray between what was desirable and what was detestable, but there were doubts, and That tension runs through the novel, some characters are super convinced and others not so much and that fills them with guilt, worries, fears and gives them a much more uneasy life.”, emphasized Eduardo Sacheri.
