Tierra del Fuego had its day at the International Book Fair, where the catalog of the pictorial work of the artist Niní Bernardello “Dibujando en el Horizonte”, one of the latest publications of the provincial Cultural Editora, was presented.

The celebration took place in the Horacio González room of the ocher pavilion of the Buenos Aires Fairgrounds of La Rural, with the participation of Priscila Vallone, provincial director of the Editora Cultural de Tierra del Fuego; Matilde Marín, curator; Fabián Muggeri, designer; and Juan Fernando García, writer.

Vallone remarked that “the idea was to show one of the publisher’s latest publications and review the poetic work of Niní Bernardello, who with her plastic and poetic work has left an impressive mark and has been a beacon for future generations.” .

“Niní left in body but she remains alive with the transcendence and permanence of her work, we are remembering her all the time, following in her footsteps and the path that she opened for the artists of the province,” said the person in charge of the Cultural Editora.

Matilde Marín, the curator of the pictorial material for this publication, described Bernardello as an artist with a broad vision and career; “Being a poet and visual artist, one look fed on the other. I was always interested in the versatility he had, how he liked to experiment and how he handled all the techniques, that is not easy and she did it very well.”

Fabián Muggeri is a designer and worked with Bernardello on his last publication in life, “Marine Sunsets.” After the death of the artist, she participated in the creation of the website ninibernadello.com.ar where her poetic and plastic artist side is published.

“It was very hard to collect all his material, select it and find the chronology of his work and see his search, the contemporary look and how he experimented with different poetic and visual techniques,” Muggeri recalled.

For his part. The writer Juan Fernando García who was the compiler of Bernardello’s poetic work published in the book “Oficio” recalled that “the Book Fair is a place that for her was a space for meetings and for us it is always a pleasant moment to bring it, evoke her, remember her and, furthermore, continue insisting on her legacy not only as a visual artist but as a poet.”

“I believe that Niní’s poetry is among the best that has been written in Argentina in the second half of the twentieth century, because of her very personal, singular work, her use of absolutely refined language, with a use of knowledge and because she created a craftsmanship of the word in the construction of the poem,” he concluded.
