The Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic announced yesterday that it will hold the XXVI Santo Domingo International Book Fair (FILSD 2024) from November 7 to 17 at the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte.

The Ministry of Culture reported that in the coming weeks the name of the writer to whom the fair will be dedicated, as well as the guest country, will be announced, and that work is already underway to surpass the success achieved in 2023, when new changes were introduced. organizational.

In a note sent to the media, the Minister of Culture, Milagros Germán, assured that the institution she directs works to offer an unforgettable experience for all participants and described the fair as “a fundamental pillar in the promotion of culture and education in our nation. In the wake of the success of the 2023 Book Fair

The organization of the fair in 2023 earned the appreciation of both the bookstores and publishing houses, which sold more than 50 million Dominican pesos in books, and the nearly 300,000 visitors who came to the Plaza de la Cultura.

One of the modifications that improved the public experience was the change of the traditional tents for modern and air-conditioned constructions, which guaranteed greater comfort, both for exhibitors and visitors, as well as a more pleasant environment protected from the elements. weather.

During the 10 days of celebration of the last FILSD 2023, the program included more than 350 activities, including conferences, colloquiums, talks, book presentations, workshops, exhibitions, children’s activities and a film exhibition, with a billboard of Israeli productions and Dominicans.

Renowned national writers and academics, as well as more than 50 international guests, representing 18 countries, participated in an extensive program of conferences and talks that focused on contemporary literature, the promotion of reading and the impact of technology on the industry. editorial as central axes.

The last fair also marked a milestone by opening the Imagination Pavilion for the first time, an avant-garde space where attendees could immerse themselves in the world of technology, with interactive exhibitions that offered a window into the future and the applied use of intelligence. artificial.
