The poets Carmen Nozal and Jassín Antuna will present their latest books in Orihuela

Next Saturday, May 11, the poets Carmen Nozal and Jassín Antuna will offer a poetry recital in the courtyard of the Miguel Hernández House Museum, starting at 7 p.m., and will present their latest two books: “In this deep darkness (Remains of the Spanish Civil War)” and “Of rare skies”, respectively. The event is free entry until capacity is reached.

Carmen Nozal (Asturias, 1964) has a degree in Hispanic Language and Literatures from UNAM and a graduate of the SOGEM School of Writers. In 2022 she received the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa. She is the author of twenty books of poetry, theater, cinema and autobiographical stories. In 2021 she published “De la confession nocturna”, a finalist for the 2020 Fernando Rielo World Mystical Poetry Prize in Spain. In that same year, she received the Pakal de Oro award for her literary career and published “Poesía reunida 1991-2021” in Mastodonte Editores. In 2022 she published “Sometimes in Life” in Rafaelli Editore, translated into Italian by Emilio Coco. In 2023 she was awarded the Asturias Literature Prize and she published the anthologies “Sobre la tierra”, in New York Poetry Press and “Samsara” in the Editorial Fund of the State of Mexico. In 2024 she published “In this deep darkness”, Naji Naamán Prize, Lebanon.

For his part, Jassín Antuna (Mexico City, 1998) has studied a Bachelor of Architecture at the UNAM and has a Diploma in Creative Writing at the SOGEM School of Writers. He has published poetry and essays in “Cardenal Revista Literaria”, “Letralia”, “Taller Ígitur”, “El Golem”, “Periódico de Poesía”, “Nueva York Poetry Review”, “Crear en Salamanca” and “La Jornada” . His poems have been translated into Catalan, English and Bengali. He is included in the poetry anthologies “Pandemia 2020”, and “Evocaciones de la Torre Latinoamericana 2021”, as well as in the story anthology “Orquesta de memorias”. In 2021 he participated in the program “Al compás de la letra” directed by María Ángeles Comesaña on Radio UNAM. In that year he published “Crónica”, an artist’s book that includes various translations of this poem, in Espolones Editores. He has participated in various international poetry festivals. He is general director of the Casa del Poeta Carmen Nozal, Spain headquarters. This year, 2024, he published the poetry book “De cielos Raros” in New York Poetry Press.
