A new adaptation of the Hunger Games in theaters is on the way
The franchise of The Hunger Games He wants to return to the top. After announcing that another prequel book is on the way for next year, Lionsgate has followed this news with another announcement that has greatly delighted fans of the teen novel saga.
According to a statement collected by Variety, Lionsgate is already preparing the production of the adaptation of the new prequel book of The Hunger Gamescalled Sunrise on the Reapingwritten by Suzanne Collins and set to be released on March 18, 2025.
It has also been confirmed that Francis Lawrence, director of the previous films in the saga, will return once again to direct this new installment that will have Haymitch Abernathy as the protagonist. However, everything indicates that Woody Harrelson, the actor who plays this character in the original saga, will not return to the franchise due to his age.
As for the date of the film, we know that, initially, it will be released on November 20, 2026, just over a year after the release of the book, and will focus on what happened during the Fiftieth Hunger Games which Abernathy won.
