In response to the situation generated in the Itaembé Guazú neighborhood by a significant increase in the bills for the gas service provided by the company Gas Nea, Consumer Protection intervened.
According to the documentation, the increase is considerable, which led the Directorate of Domestic Trade, which is part of the Ministry of Cooperative Action, to order the immediate re-invoicing of all affected users.
Contact with the Gas Nea company was unsuccessful, since its offices remained closed on Wednesday. Under the Consumer Protection Law, the Domestic Trade Directorate has ordered the re-invoicing of all users in accordance with article 31 of said law, with a maximum period of five calendar days for its execution.
Until the company carries out the corresponding re-invoicing, users can refrain from paying the invoice for the 2024/6 period. Those who have direct debit payments through automatic debit can request their bank or credit card to suspend said debit, and the banks are obliged to accept this request.
This measure is provisional in nature and is subject to the actions that, due to alleged non-compliance with the Consumer Protection Law, are processed ex officio. This was reported to Misionescuatro by the Consumer Defense Directorate.
