The mayor of El Ejido, Francisco Góngoraaccompanied Antonio Perez Fornieles at the presentation of his autobiographical book My footprints. In Search of the Source of Happiness, which was held at the Hotel Golf Almerimar. The Councilor for Tourism was also present, María Herminia Padialand the president of the Local Board, Inocencio Gabriel Manzano.
The author is a well-known tourism professional, from Ejido by adoption and an exceptional witness of the entire tourism development process in Almerimar, after having accumulated nearly half a century of experience in the sector. Since 2008 he has been director of the AR Almerimar. Góngora recalled that Pérez Fornieles “received the Tourism Merit Award in 2017, which we gave him at Fitur, and to a large extent it is a recognition of everything he tells in this book.”
Antonio Pérez Fornieles has dedicated his almost 50 years of experience to several hotel chains: Hesperia, Husa, Med Playas, Sol Meliá and Almerimar SA, always in Almerimar. “He is a magnificent tourism professional, a great ambassador for Almerimar and an excellent person full of values,” added the mayor.
Throughout more than 300 pages, the author remembers his time at school, the seminar, his training in tourism, moments such as the 25th Anniversary of the hotel, the expansion of the golf course, the visit of King Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía in 1978, the visit of King Baudouin of Belgium, the arrival of the Japanese and Mr. Tamur.
