The Cádiz Book Fair will take place from June 28 to July 7 at the Baluarte de la Candelaria.

The poet and lyricist Benjamín Prado and the singer Shuarma will be the protagonists of the opening ceremony of the 39th edition of the Cádiz Book Fair, which will start next Friday, June 28 and will last until July 7. This unique duo, which has already performed numerous recitals-concerts, is chosen to open an event that this year will have as its motto Letters and Music, and will give special importance to the love affair between music and literature.

Along with them, the program highlights the incorporation of Alejo Stivel, founder of the Tequila group and long-time producer, who will present his memoirs I should be dead. Likewise, the writer Manuel Loureiro will visit the Baluarte de Candelaria event with his novel When the Storm Passes, the latest Fernando Lara Novel Award.

On the other hand, the collaboration of the Book Fair with the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation will promote a musical poetic encounter with the duo Marta & Micó and the poet of Moroccan origin Lucía El Asri. Likewise, the essayist Mimunt Hamido Yahia will debate feminism in Islamic contexts.

In addition, a colloquium on new narrative will take place between Abraham Guerrero Tenorio, Alejandro Morellón and Thais Gamaza, Rosario Troncoso will present her latest collection of poems, and authors from the province of Cádiz such as José Antonio Lucero (The Teacher), Isabel Álvarez (The Cry of the Birds), Juan Pedro Cosano (The Red Lawyer). Finally, the Fair will feature children’s literature authors Mamen Sánchez and Cristina Geneiro, as well as Almudena Fuentes and the Sevillian author, Raquel Díaz Reguera, who will present her saga “Julia and Los Mortimort.”

The music will be provided by El Aleph Trio, Paula Bilá, DEM Trio, The Stompin’ Swing Trío, A Bunch of Lonesome Heroes, Dj Pelired and Jesús Corbacho, among others. Tributes will be paid to Rafael Soto Vergés, José Rasero, Juan de la Zaranda, Rosalinda Miller Cid and the booksellers of Manuel de Falla. Daily routes will be held during the week, the historical theater companies of Cádiz will be remembered and there will be a dramatized reading by Gabriela Ponce, who by the way will visit Cádiz in the next edition of the FIT. And there will be exhibitions by Ricardo Olivera, Fritz, Sory Traore and Paco Alcázar.
