At the Tertulia Night “Books, Poetry and Wine”, a talk will be presented on the book ‘La Vorágine’, by José Eustasio Rivera, under the theme “Virginity of a centenary work.”

This cultural and literary event will take place at Café Vivero Rock, Cultural and Environmental Center, located on 26 B Street with Carrera 6ta Corner in the Los Angeles neighborhood, starting at 7:00 pm Admission is free.

The gathering will feature guest speaker Martha Cecilia Andrade Calderón, master’s degree in Literature, from the Javeriana University, in Bogotá.

Lecturer Martha Cecilia Andrade Calderón is also a poet, essayist, teacher, critic and university researcher in the areas of Literature, Speech and Communication, at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has a degree in Linguistics and Literature, and a specialist in University Teaching from the Santo Tomás University.

The special guest of the Tertulia Night has participated in meetings, conferences and seminars at the national and international level. She is the author of interesting academic books, among them, “Forgive me if I make you uncomfortable,” “I have the floor. Orality in the university classroom”, “Academic writing manual”, “Reading and writing at the University”, “Oral interaction strategies in the classroom”; essays, articles.

As well as the collections of poems, Circulando, routes of violence in Colombia; Antinomies of midday in the Huilenses Editorial Collection. She is co-author of the collections of poems “The Names in the Wind,” “Women in the Verse.” Anthology of women poets from Huila”.

In Santa Marta, the Tertulia Night will be a very special space to discuss the centenary of the work La Vorágine, where an enriching debate will surely be generated about the representation of the Amazon rainforest as another character in the novel.

Participants will reflect on how the imposing and wild nature becomes a fundamental element that shapes the destiny of the protagonists of this literary work, marking their fight for survival and their connection with what is primordial.
