Miami (EFE).- Former Real Madrid and Spanish national team goalkeeper Iker Casillas participated in an event on innovation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity held in Miami. There he spoke about his work supporting technology startups.

At the UNIR Innovation Day Miami 2024, which was held in the center of this city in southern Florida (USA) and carried out by the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), Casillas gave details about the alliance between his company, SportBoots, and the multinational Telefónica in favor of small businesses.

“Both companies share the same concern for promoting sport and the well-being of society,” the 2010 world champion with ‘La Roja’ said at the event.

Casillas reported that his current activity in the field of technological entrepreneurship, through his accelerator focused on the world of sports, began after collaborating with the Spanish firm Idoven in matters of health and well-being of athletes.

AI at the service of health, according to Iker Casillas

“After suffering a heart attack, I saw the delicate work that this startup was doing to monitor that vital engine: the heart,” explained the former goalkeeper during this event held in hybrid format, and which was also broadcast in streaming.

“In just three years we are working with eleven technology startups and we have converted more than 2 million euros,” he added.

Casillas participated in this event, also organized by MIU City University Miami, together with the Spanish expert in technological innovation and cybersecurity Chema Alonso, and the vice chancellor of International Projects at UNIR and chancellor of MIU, Daniel Burgos.
