Oxxo’s Mexicans landed in Medellín and complete 450 stores in Colombia

The strategy of Eva Gonda’s son-in-law, also owner of Cruz Verde, is to take over the country, they already took a step this year in Barranquilla and are going to five other cities

In November 2023, the general manager of Oxxo in Colombia, Jorge Flores, announced the expansion plans of the company that months ago had celebrated the opening of a location in the Parque de los Hippies in Bogotá that represented the opening of its 300th store in the country. Flores, who was chosen by the Mexican multinational Femsa, known for being the largest Coca Cola bottler in the world, to lead the expansion of convenience stores in the second most important country for its business, announced that the next Two cities that were going to have their traditional red and yellow logo on their streets were going to be Barranquilla and Medellín.

They arrived in the Atlantic capital with six stores in March and now, a month later, they opened their first establishment in the capital of Antioquia, one of the most important cities for the Colombian economy. In this way, the chain of stores owned by the Mexican millionaire Eva Gonda, who did not appear in the latest Forbes magazine classification and who also owns the Cruz Verde pharmacies, completes 450 stores in the country that are distributed in cities such as Bogotá, Cali, Pereira, Bucaramanga, Girardot or Melgar and that they have built in a period of 15 years since the first one they opened in 2009 on Carrera Séptima and Calle thirty-nine in Bogotá.

The first store in the city of eternal spring is located near the Floresta Metro station and the idea is to open another four by the end of May. Likewise, the plans do not stop there, since they already have other capitals such as Tunja, Ibagué, Cúcuta, Cartagena and Santa Marta in their sights.
