After more than two years of development, SpaceX officially presented the suit for extravehicular activities (EVA) through its website and social networks. These suits will be used by astronauts as part of the mission Polaris Dawn of the Polaris Program in the vacuum of space during the first commercial astronaut spacewalk.

The design evolved from the suit intravehicular activity (IVA)as it provides greater mobility, a Heads-Up Display (HUD) helmet, camera, new thermal management textiles and materials obtained from the intermediate stage of the Falcon 9 rocket, as well as the trunk of the Dragon capsule.
”To build a base on the Moon and a city on Mars, millions of space suits will be needed. “The development of this suit and the execution of the spacewalk will be important steps toward a scalable design for spacesuits on future long-duration missions as life becomes multiplanetary,” they expressed from SpaceX.

The SpaceX statement
”In February 2022, Jared Isaacman and SpaceX announced the Polaris Programan effort designed to rapidly advance human spaceflight capabilities while supporting important causes here on Earth,” the writing begins.
Then, they explain that ‘‘Polaris Dawn, the first of the program’s three human spaceflight missions, will be launched into orbit no earlier than summer 2024”, where they also detailed: ”During the five-day mission, the crew will perform SpaceX’s first extravehicular activity (more commonly known as EVA or spacewalk) of Dragon, which will also be the first commercial spacewalk by an astronaut. “This historic milestone will also be the first time that four astronauts will be exposed to the vacuum of space at the same time.”
Regarding the additions to the suit, they stated: ”All of these EVA suit improvements are part of a scalable designwhich allows teams to produce and scale to different body types as SpaceX seeks to create greater accessibility to space for all of humanity.”
”Yes ok Polaris Dawn will be the first time SpaceX’s EVA suit is used in low Earth orbit, the suit’s final destination is much further away from our home planet. Building a base on the Moon and a city on Mars will require the development of a scalable design for the millions of spacesuits needed to help make life multiplanetary,” they concluded.
