first woman to lead Enap Board of Directors

This Tuesday, April 30, Ximena Corbo Urzúa took over as the new director of Enap, replacing José Luis Mardones. Corbo is a commercial engineer and has extensive experience in executive positions in the private sector. She was appointed by President Gabriel Boric after a competition held by the Senior Public Management System. With her appointment, Enap’s board of directors becomes the first in the company’s history to be made up of three women.

Ximena Corbo, an experienced professional

Ximena Corbo is a commercial engineer from the Catholic University and a graduate in Advanced Strategic Management from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD). For more than 20 years she worked for the Nestlé company in Chile and Switzerland, performing various functions. In addition, she has been a director of Sofofa and is part of the boards of Exporlac, Corporación Consorcio Lechero, Empresas CMPC and Fundación Generación Empresarial. She is also a member of the Icare Marketing Circle. Her vast experience in the private sector makes her an ideal candidate for the position of director of Enap.

A transparent selection process

The appointment of Ximena Corbo was made under the framework of the law that regulates the Corporate Governance of Enap, through a competition carried out by the Senior Public Management System. According to this legislation, four of the seven directors of the company are selected by Senior Public Management and remain in their positions for four years, and may be renewed for a new period. This process guarantees transparency and meritocracy in the election of Enap’s directors.

Ximena Corbo takes over with enthusiasm and commitment

Ximena Corbo was “honored” and said she took the appointment with “enthusiasm and commitment.” She highlighted her experience in the private world and expressed her desire to contribute to Enap in the generation of more sustainable fuels. The new director faces important challenges for the state company, which seeks to be an example in matters of sustainability, process safety, operational excellence, innovation, inclusion, equity and construction of a culture based on respect.

A historically female board of directors

The president of Enap, Gloria Maldonado, highlighted the participation of Ximena Corbo on the company’s board of directors, since with her appointment it becomes the first time in Enap’s history that three women are part of its board of directors. Maldonado highlighted that this shows that the company is in the right direction and hopes that it will be an example for more women to occupy leadership positions. The inclusion of women in senior management positions is a sign of the diversity and equity that Enap seeks to promote.
