Promigas started the year with positive results, driven by the El Niño phenomenon that benefited the company’s operations, mainly due to the increase in gas demand from the thermal sector.

In March, The company achieved an accumulated net profit at a consolidated level of $312,000 million, executing the budgeted at 122%.

“The above thanks to the responsible execution of costs and expenses, better results from SPEC (regasification plant) due to higher income and higher transportation income in Promigás due to higher thermal volume taking into account the El Niño phenomenon”, reads the quarterly report.

In addition, Consolidated revenues of $1.66 billion were achieved, 7% higher than those of the first quarter of 2023.

The company highlighted that in the first quarter of 2024, together with its portfolio of transportation companies in Colombia, they achieved a volume of natural gas transported of 645 million cubic feet per day, which made it possible to cover 59% of the national gas demand.

For its part, SPEC reached record regasification figures during the first quarter of 2024, by receiving nearly 1,000,000 cubic meters of LNG acquired by thermal plants in the international market. “Its operation was vital to support the electrical energy generation system during the El Niño phenomenon, managing to serve nearly 70% of the country’s gas-fired thermal generation,” he stated.

Additionally, based on the need for a greater supply of gas to maximize national thermal dispatchSPEC managed to enable additional regasification capacity of up to 450 million cubic feet per day, representing about 35% of the national gas demand.

In terms of distribution of natural gas and electric energy, the impact on nearly 396,000 people with the connection of 110,116 new clients for a total of 6.87 million. And in the inclusive non-bank financing business “Brilla”, 134,396 new loans were granted for a placement of $346,522 million. 94% of the loans were taken by families from strata 1, 2 and 3. To date and since the beginning of the program in 2007, 5.6 million loans have been granted.
