Goalthe technology giant behind Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Threads, announced a few days ago that starting June 26 it will begin using data from its social networks to train its Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Cases like these can always occur when the product one is using is free. In the fine print of the contract there is a clause indicating this possibility.

However, the account holders of these social networks may oppose to this change in the use of Private information which has as reference the photos or messages between users.

The operation to deny this permissionbeyond having to enter the account settings, it can be done in a simple way filling out a form created ad hoc by the company itself to channel these types of requests.

To access it, once inside the Instagram account, for example, you will have to go to user profile and from here, click on the button menu, which is located at the top right. This appears with the three horizontal stripes icon.

Once inside, click on Settings and activity. On this screen you have to go down and click on the option Information that will appear in the penultimate section, that of More information and help.

The Information screen shows a list of all the aspects that one expects to be informed about. On this screen, click on the option Privacy Policy which will appear in second place. There he points out that:

“You have the right to object to Meta using the information you have shared in our products and services to develop and improve Meta AI. You can submit this form to exercise that right. AI on Meta is our collection of AI features and experiences generative, such as Meta AI and creative tools with AI, as well as the models that power them.”, highlights the form about this request for Instagram users.

At that point, click on the Right to Object link, which takes you to a screen explaining how the publications that train the AI ​​will be used. By going all the way down, you can access the form.

“Among the information you have shared about our products and services is the following: the posts, photos, captions, and messages you send to the AI. However, we do not use the content of your private messages with friends and family to train our AIs. We will review objection requests in accordance with relevant data protection laws. If we accept your request, it will apply from that moment on,” adds the current document from the META company.

In this form you must indicate the country and email of the user. In the text box, explain the reasons why one does not want the information to be used to train Meta’s AI considering a lack of data privacy.

It is not a simple task, since many fields have to be filled out. When the end is reached, the “prize” is on the Submit button.

You will then receive an email with a code that must be entered in the app and matter finished. After a few minutes the user will receive an email from Meta accepting or declining their request.
