The Suramericana Investment Group (Grupo Sura) announced the appointment of Juan Esteban Toro Valencia as new vice president of Corporate Finance.

This decision It will become effective as of June 15, when Toro will also assume the legal representation of the company. This measure comes after the election of Ricardo Jaramillo Mejía as president of the company.

According to the Sura Group, Juan Esteban Toro Valencia has worked as an investment manager for the last 22 years of the company. His vast experience and deep knowledge of the company were decisive factors in his appointment to this important position.

Toro has a solid academic background. He is an administrative engineer from the EIA University, a specialist in Economics from the Universidad de los Andes, and has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Strategy from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University, in Atlanta, USA. In addition, he has completed the Strategic Financial Leadership program at the Stanford Business School.

With this restructuring, said Grupo Sura, the legal representation is modified as follows: Ricardo Jaramillo Mejía as president and legal representative; Juan Luis Múnera as vice president of Legal and Corporate Affairs and legal representative; and Marianella Pulido Tamayo as manager of Financial Legal Affairs and investments and legal representative for judicial and administrative purposes.

“Toro’s career in the company and his academic and professional preparation reinforce the confidence of the Sura Group in the new management structure, with a view to strengthening its position in the financial services sector,” the statement reads.
