There are certain things you can’t do behind the wheel of a car. In Spain, for example, You cannot drive with earplugs or headphones stop the music. It is something considered as Serious offense and is punishable by the loss of three points on the driving license, as well as a fine of 200 euros, which are reduced to 100 euros with prompt payment.

However, there is only one car in the world that breaks this rule, the Mercedes-AMG ONE.

The hypercar, which is a street model equipped with Formula 1 technology, has taken seven years to develop. Much of that time has been dedicated to to be able to approve such a radical vehicle so that it can circulate on the open road.

During the entire process, the German brand achieved something unprecedented: approve music headphones that are legal to use while driving. And not only that, you could say that it is even essential to drive the AMG ONE without discomfort.

The AMG ONE music headphones

It is one of the most exclusive vehicles in the world, with a limited run of 250 units which sold out in a flash even though the price of the model was slightly below three million euros.

It is a technological prodigy in which its propulsion system stands out, which combines a 1.6 V6 engine with four electric motors to achieve a combined performance of 1,063 HP. The problem? It makes a sound that is too loud, reason that forced Mercedes engineers to redirect part of that sound towards the cabin.

This, which in part may seem to be liked by the most purists (listening to the sound of the engine naturally, not through amplifiers or something similar), can end up being somewhat annoying, since the noise of the system is very high.

Precisely for this reason, Mercedes-AMG contacted Sennheiser to create a device that would improve the comfort of whoever was behind the wheel, headphones with advanced noise-reducing technology and they make it durable, and they are also approved, so they can be used on the street without problem.

Called MOMENTUM, they have a sound cancellation technology very advanced, which emits at a frequency identical to the ONE’s propulsion system, managing to cancel out its noise. This allows both listening to music and, if the user wishes, activating the ‘Transparent Hearing’ function, with which you can hear the sound of the car naturally.

Veronique Larcher, Director of Sennheiser AMBEO Mobility, explained: “At Sennheiser, we love pushing boundaries and setting new standards for the listening experience. And excitement is driven by sound, both in the audio and automotive worlds. Drive an F1 engine while enjoying a superior music quality It is the type of unthinkable user experience that our AMBEO Mobility team is designed for.”
