Female leadership takes priority. The Spain Textile Retail Association (Arte) has signed a collaboration agreement with Women In Retail (WIR) to make visible the role of women in retail and promote their leadership.

One of the initiatives of this collaboration is the development of joint activities in the professional, academic and cultural fields. with the purpose of promoting women’s professional skills and having greater opportunities for job growth.

The president of Woman In Retail, Cristina Delgado, has pointed out the importance of the presence of women in decision-making bodies in retail companies. The objective is to guarantee equal opportunities among workers to achieve professional success and, at the same time, act as a professional reference point for new generations.

74.6% of workers in the textile retail sector are women

Currently, according to data from a recent report prepared by the AFI (International Financial Analysts), 74.6% of employees in the retail sector are women. It is for this reason that the Arte employer association highlights the prioritization of the professional growth of women in the business.

Arte, in the next two years, is committed to establishing improvements in the corporate governance of companies in the retail sector. For this same purpose, WIR has created a good governance code with guidelines on gender equality and diversity.

The Arte employer association is made up of brands such as Hugo Boss, H&M, Iberian Sports Retail Group, Kiabi, Parfois, Pepco, Primark, Punt Roma and Uniqlo. The groups Awwg, Inditex, Iberian Sports Retail Group, Mango, Mayoral and Tendam are also members of the association.
