Brasilia (EFE).-Inflation in Brazil reached 0.46% last May, bringing the interannual rate to 3.93%, according to official sources reported this Wednesday.

According to data released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE, state-run), inflation in May was slightly higher than that recorded in April, when it had been 0.38%.

So far this year, according to the same source, inflation stands at 2.27%.

Inflation remains within the outlined perspectives

Despite the slight acceleration registered in May, inflation remains within the perspectives outlined for 2024 by the Central Bank, which has established the goal of ending the year with a rate of 3%, with a tolerance margin of 1.5 percentage points, which raises that ceiling to 4.5%.

The financial market projections are less optimistic than those considered by the Central Bank.

According to a report presented last Monday, private sector experts expect that this year will end with an inflation of 3.90%, which would be within the parameters of the issuing institute, but almost one point above the official forecast.
