Machinery patents rose another 27% in May

The agricultural machinery market continues to show clear signs of recovery, at least in comparison with the meager values reported during the first quarter of the year.

In May, the patents of self-propelled equipment totalized 641 units enrolled, with a growth of +27.2% compared to the previous month. The rise is added to the jump of +89.5% observed in April in relation to March records.

The figures come from the Patent Report published monthly by the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (TO FACE), including official records of tractors, combines and self-propelled sprayers.

The 641 units patented in May represent the highest monthly level so far this year. In fact, the last time this figure was exceeded was in July 2023. However, current values are still well below the records observed a year ago.

For example, last month’s filings fell -15.0% with respect to the values of May 2023.

The year-on-year decline is even greater when comparing the records reported by TO FACE accumulated in the first five months of the year. Between January and May 2024, 1,997 units self-propelled, with a drop of -27.8% compared to the same period last year.
