The Cirium firm is dedicated to the analysis of the aviation industry in the world. One of its products is ranking of the most punctual airlines. Recently published the classification corresponding to the last may and this one brings several surprises.

It is worth remembering that Avianca, the main airline with operations in Colombia, led the classification during the previous year. However, in 2024 Avianca did not even appear in the top 5 in Latin America.

According to Cirium, for the second time in a row, the most punctual airline on the planet is Aeroméxico. This company maintained its leadership with a performance (OTP) of 86.75 percent in arrivals and 87.65 percent in departures in 17,164 flights carried out.

Latam Airlines rose to second place with a performance of 86.65 percent. The airlines JAL, Iberia and Saudia complete the global top 5 with punctuality indicators above 86 percent.

Ranking in Latin America

Regarding Latin America, Cirium concluded that the most punctual airline was Copa Airlines, which had an OTP of 90.24 percent, in a total of 10,454 flights during the evaluated month.

The Brazilian Gol obtained second place, followed by Aerolíneas Argentinas, Caribbean Airlines and Aeroméxico, which is the global leader.

Avianca ranked sixth with a punctuality of 86.09 percent in 22,001 flights carried out in the month analyzed. In the region it was ranked seventh.

Cirium highlighted that although it does not appear in the top 5, Avianca remains in the top 10 positions globally and regionally.

It should be noted that in 2023 Avianca was recognized as the most punctual airline and became the first national airline to obtain such a distinction after achieving a punctuality rate of 85.73 percent.

Cirium noted that in North America, the first airline in the ranking is Delta Airlines, and in Europe, it is Norwegian.
