Mexico City, June 19 (EFECOM).- The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) recorded a gain of 0.16% in its main indicator this Wednesday, standing at 53,323.37 units, to chain three days closing positively, in a session with low trading volume.

In the first three sessions of the week, the BMV has gained 2.01% after a cumulative loss of -1.42% last week, its fifth consecutive weekly drop.

“The capital market closed the session with mixed results among the main global stock indices. It is important to remember that the markets in the United States remained closed so a low trading volume was observed,” the director of Economic and Financial Analysis of Banco Base, Gabriela Siller.

In Mexico, said the expert, the Price and Quotation Index (IPC), the BMV’s main indicator, “closed the session with a gain of 0.16%, linking three sessions to the rise.”

Siller specified that the operating volume was 84.22% below the 100-day average and noted that during the day the gains of the following stations stood out: Femsa (+2.77%), Chedraui (+1.65 %), Banorte (+1.37%) and Bimbo (+1.35%).

Despite the advance in the first three days, the Mexican CPI still remains -3.35% below the level prior to the June 2 elections, when the markets resented the majority obtained by the ruling party in the Mexican Congress.

With this day’s movement, the accumulated loss of the CPI so far in 2024 was placed at -7.15%.

On the day, the peso depreciated 0.48% against the dollar, trading at 18.45 units per greenback, after being valued at 18.41 at the close of the previous day, according to data from the Bank of Mexico.

The IPC closed the session at 53,323.37 units, with a gain of 86.91 points and a positive variation of 0.16% compared to the previous day.

The volume traded in the market reached 50.7 million securities for an amount of 2,728 million pesos (about 137.5 million euros).

Of the 220 firms that traded on the day, 114 ended with their prices rising, 78 had losses and 28 closed unchanged.

The securities with the greatest upward variation were those of the maritime transport company Grupo TMM (TMM A), with 23.57%; of the housing construction company Desarrollo Homex (HOMEX), with 12.5%, and of the meat and derivatives producer Grupo Bafar (BAFAR B), with 5.29%.

In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the Infrastructure Promoter and Operator Pinfra (PINFRA L), with -3.2%; from Grupo Aeroportuarios del Sureste (ASUR B), with -2.46%, and from the financial entity Actinver (ACTINVR B), with -2.44%.

During the day, two of the four sectors advanced, frequent consumption (0.63%) and financial (0.35%), and two lost, materials (-0.78%) and industrial ( -0.33%). EFECOM
