Kimberly-Clark inaugurated a regional logistics hub in Costa Rica

Kimberly Clark, dedicated to the manufacturing of personal care and hygiene products, inaugurated a new operations center in Costa Rica. It is a regional logistics hub, through which it aims to enhance the distribution of products to other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The new center is located in the LatAM Logistics Park, in San José. It has 8,600 square meters and more than 11,000 pallet positions. According to the company, the investment required for construction was US$5 million.

“With the launch of this operation, The company will save up to 50% of the time spent transporting its products by land to and from the country’s main ports.thanks to its geographical position,” said Roberto Chaves, Logistics Manager for Kimberly-Clark Latin America North, to local media.

Meanwhile, Juan Felipe Isaza, vice president of Kimberly-Clark for Latin America North, indicated: “We are pleased to announce the opening of this new Logistics Hub in 2024, at which time we celebrate 60 years of presence in the country. This new operation reaffirms the company’s confidence in Costa Rica, the nation where the company’s headquarters for North Latin America is located and provides direct employment to 1,300 employees distributed in the administrative offices, a Shared Services Center (Global Business Center) , a production plant and two distribution centers.”

A decade ago, Kimberly-Clark had announced an investment of US$31 million in the country, in order to strengthen its manufacturing and services operations. Of that total, US$27 million had been allocated to its new plant in Coris de Cartago, and US$4 million for a new Shared Service Center located in Heredia.
