Event within the Samsung Innovation Campus program brought together 143 young people from Panama and the Dominican Republic

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global technology leader, held a talk on Artificial Intelligence (AI) aimed at students at the Technological University of Panama (UTP). The event, held on June 7, aimed to bring young people closer to the corporate world and publicize the opportunities that Samsung offers through its Samsung Innovation Campus program, which provides AI scholarships to students between 18 and 22. years as well as an ecosystem of alliances to promote employability.

The talk featured the participation of Samsung experts, who shared their knowledge and experiences in the application of AI in various areas of the business, including devices, white goods, audio and video. In addition, the SmartThings App was presented, a platform that allows you to control and manage smart devices in the home.

Zezinho Lee, President of Samsung Central America and the Caribbean, highlighted the importance of promoting interest in AI in young people. “At Samsung we are committed to the development of talent in the region, and Artificial Intelligence is a field with enormous potential to transform the future. Through programs such as Samsung Innovation Campus, we seek to bring students closer to the latest technologies and provide them with the necessary tools to become leaders in this field.”

A program with great impact at UTP

Currently, 80% of the students awarded scholarships by the Samsung Innovation Campus program are part of the UTP, mainly from the Systems faculty. This reflects the great interest that exists among students at this university in AI and its potential to transform various sectors.

María Fernanda Hernández, Corporate Citizenship Manager at Samsung, commented: “We are pleased to see the enthusiasm of the students to learn more about Artificial Intelligence. “This technology has the power to improve our lives in many aspects, and we are sure that these young people will be the protagonists of the innovation of the future.”

In total, 143 students from Panama and the Dominican Republic participated in the talk, of which 71 attended in person and the rest connected virtually. Students valued the opportunity to hear from Samsung experts and learn first-hand how AI is applied in different areas of the business.

At the end of the event, the students expressed their satisfaction with the experience and highlighted the value of listening to Samsung experts about the real application of AI in different areas. The talk contributed to expanding their knowledge and perspectives on the future of technology and its impact on society.

Samsung will continue to develop initiatives that promote knowledge and training in AI among the new generations. The company is convinced that AI is a fundamental tool for economic and social development, and that today’s young talents will be the protagonists of tomorrow’s technological transformation.
