William Mebarak Chadid, Shakira’s father was hospitalized last Wednesday night due to pneumonia in a clinic in Barranquilla.

For now, it is known that he is in the Ibero-American Clinic and that the doctors who treated him decided to keep him in the Intensive Care Unit.

The last time that William Mebarak Chadid, 92 years old, had been seen in public, was on December 26, when he visited the statue that the plastic artist Yino Márquez made of his daughter, and which was installed on the Malecón from the river.

Two years ago, in the midst of the scandal over the separation of Shakira and Piqué, Mebarak Chadid was also hospitalized, this time in Barcelona, ​​as a result of a fall. And in mid-2023 he underwent surgery.

For his last birthday, Shakira dedicated an emotional message to him, which reflected her father’s strength in facing recent health problems.

William Mebarak Chadid is of Lebanese origin and is 92 years old. He has been a vital figure for his daughter’s career. Throughout his life he has had several jobs. He has been a radio host, jeweler, merchant, medical representative, insurance agent, literature professor and journalist.

Shakira is expected to arrive in the country in the next few hours.
