“How am I going to be a cannibal?”: Armie Hammer acknowledged his professional death, but dismissed accusations

After his work plummeted following a series of accusations against him, causing him to leave multiple projects, the actor Armie Hammer (The Social Network, The Lone Ranger) has now revealed that he is trying to rebuild his career and dismissed some of the loudest accusations.

In conversation with the “Painful Lessons” podcast, Hammer initially acknowledged that his current career does not exist.

It was an ego death, a professional death. A neutron bomb exploded in my life. It ended everything“, he acknowledged after accusations of emotional abuse and assault on women

I am not a viable product for the entertainment industry., in terms of the Hollywood system. I can’t play in that sandbox for now. I’m not allowed in there, but I’m an artist. This is what I love to do. I haven’t done anything in my adult life except make movies and plays. It’s what makes my soul speak, it’s what makes me happy. “It’s what I love,” Hammer explained.

In that scenario, the actor also addressed one of the most striking elements of his fall: the accusation that he had a cannibal fetish.

“People called me a cannibal and everyone believed them,” said the actor. “They say, ‘Yeah, that guy ate people.’ That? What are you talking about? Do you know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people! How can I be a cannibal?! It was weird. He wanted to come out and say, ‘This is crazy! What are you all talking about?’ Now I can see it from a distance and with some perspective. And now I think, ‘This is so funny.’”he explained.

Armie Hammer still has projects

As part of his conversation with the podcast, Hammer said that he has managed to deal with the aftermath of the accusations and is even “grateful” since he was not happy with his life.

I didn’t feel good, I never felt satisfied, I never had enough, I was never in a place where I was happy with myself and where I had self-esteem.. I never knew how to give myself love. I never knew how to value myself, but I had this job [como actor] where I was able to get it from so many people that I never had to learn how to give it to myself,” he said.

In the conversation, Hammer also stated that although he is not welcome in Hollywood, he has already written a script that “reflects” his life and hopes that something will come out of all the work he is doing with a friend.

After the accusations against him that began to come to light from Instagram, a police investigation was launched. Likewise, Hammer lost roles in productions such as Amazon’s “Shotgun Wedding,” Paramount’s series “The Offer” and the play “The Minutes” on Broadway.

Over the past year, the actor acknowledged that he attempted suicide as a result of the controversy. “I just walked out into the ocean and swam as far as I could hoping to drown, get hit by a boat or eaten by a shark. “Then I realized that my children were still on the coast and that I couldn’t do that to them,” he said in 2023.
