Madrid, June 19 (EFE).- The performance of the violinist of Lebanese origin Ara Malikian from one of the balconies of the Royal Palace of Madrid and a projection of artistic images on the façade of the building, both with the kings and their daughters as spectators, This Wednesday they put the finishing touch to the events commemorating the proclamation of Felipe VI.

At around 10:30 p.m. and faced with the threat of rain, the royal family left the palace through the Puerta del Príncipe and addressed the citizens who were waiting in the Plaza de Oriente after watching the concert of the music band of the Royal Guard.

Once they have greeted the audience in the front row, the kings, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia have positioned themselves in front of the palace and Malikian’s performance has begun from the balcony of the Hall of Mirrors.

The violinist of Lebanese origin has performed for the first time the song ‘Capriccio de Corazón para L & F 10’, composed for the occasion.

After the brief performance, the lights went out and the projection of the ‘videomapping’ began on the side of the palace that faces the Plaza de Oriente, with the title ‘Ten years of history of the Spanish Crown’.

“We celebrate ten years of a monarchy that looks to the future,” was one of the messages voiced in the four-minute video.

The play of lights displayed images of symbols such as the Constitution and concluded with the motto chosen by Felipe VI to commemorate his first decade on the throne: “Service, commitment and duty.”

After the screening, the royal family waved to the public and left the square in two official cars.

The final part of the day of commemoration opened with a concert by the Royal Guard music band, whose repertoire began with ‘The Old Admiral’, a march dedicated to King Juan Carlos to be used during the review at troops at the events in which he presided.

The bolero ‘Te busco’, by the Cuban Celia Cruz, and a selection of Spanish pop songs, such as ‘Santa Lucía’, by Miguel Ríos, have also been played; ‘Son of the Moon’, by Mecano, or ‘La chica yeyé’, by Concha Velasco.

In the performance, the march ‘X anniversary of a reign’, composed by the musician colonel Fernando Lizana, who directed the band, was performed for the first time.

‘King Felipe VI Overture’, commissioned from the Alicante composer Óscar Navarro, has also been premiered, with a nod to Asturias, the homeland of Queen Letizia, through the sound of the bagpipes. EFE
